I've stayed at dozens of Bangkok hotels; my impressions are: LOCATION. The hotel is right in the middle of the Arab/Indian tourist section of Sukhumvit. This has pluses and minuses. Being several blocks away from Sukhumvit, you will wind up taking this walk many times (sometimes many times in one day), despite the hotel's "free" (tips expected) tuk-tuk service. This means it s quieter than locations right on Sukhumvit, though. Please note that services close by (restaurants and bars all over the place) are priced for tourists; the laundry place close by, for example, charges ten times the norrmal Thailand rate for laundry. In general, Bangkok offers quite a high standard of hotels at great prices; the hotel field is extremely overbuilt, and in general the kind of value President Solitaire offers is not that unusual. The hotel is getting a little old; buildings in Thailand age very quickly, and in general, the hotel is maintained in good condition. My room, a junior suite, was pleasant and comfortable (in my opinion, the bed was OK but only OK). Plenty of pilows, good shower (separate shower and tub), layout of bathroom a bit awkward. The room included a small kitchen and full-sized fridge; also an OK breakfast (much better breakfasts are to be had in Bangkok!), and free wi-fi. I had dinner in the hotel one night, and thought it was so-so and overpriced. The hotel staff was friendly, professional and helpful. At this price level, I prefer the Cape House (which is not listed on Travelocity; you have to book directly) -- but because of the recent problems in Bangkok I chose to stay away from the central shopping area (unfortunately; it is great!). Bangkok is the best city in the world - have a blast!

My stay here was enjoyable. The hotel is very nice, I think all the rooms are suites with kitchens. The rooms were big and very clean. Both times I stayed here they sent me a complimentary fruit plate which was very nice. Room service is good quality and relatively inexpensive. The hotel's location is nice too, you can walk to a lot of places and there are taxis parked out in front of the hotel all day so you never have to wait. The hotel staff was very friendly and helped me with some of my flight information. I would stay here again.

I lived in Bangkok for several years, and have since traveled there for business and vacation, and I can tell you, you'll love this hotel! Room settings have the Thai touch and traditional elements such as thai silk bed coverings, wooden floors, etc...they are spacious, the bathrooms are luxurious. The staff is friendly and always available...the food is great; the pool (with underwater music!) is small, but clean; the spa attached to the hotel is wonderful. In my opinion, it's one of Sukhumwit's (downtown Bkk) best kept secrets. Highly recommended.
